Enrico Castellani (Castelmassa di Rovigo, August4, 1930 - Celleno di Viterbo, December 1,2017).
In 1959, together with Piero Manzoni, he founded the Azimuth review and the Gallery of the same name, both initiatives destined to leave an indelible mark on the Italian art scene. Among Castellani's one-man shows we recall the ones at Palazzo Fabroni, Pistoia (1996); Galleria civica d'arte contemporanea, Trent (1999), Fondazione Prada, Milan (2001); Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow (2005-2006); Galleria Fumagalli, Bergamo (2006-2007); Studio Dabbeni, Lugano (2007); Libera Arte Contemporanea, Rome (2008); Haunch of Venison, New York (2009).
He also took part in many group shows of critical note such as "Monochrome Malerei" (Kunstmuseum, Leverkusen, 1960), "The Responsive Eye" (MOMA, New York, 1965), "Zero Italien" (Galerie der Stadt, Esslingen, 1995-1996), "The Italian Metamorphosis" (Guggenheim Museum, New York, 1999).
