Stefano Arienti was born in Asola (Mantua) in 1961 and in 1980 he moved to Milan where he lives and works today.
He was moving in Italian art circles during the period of renewal following decades dominated by the Arte Povera and Transavanguardia movements.
He held a series of solo shows in galleries and art institutions in Italy and abroad. In Italy we recall here the MAXXI Museum in Rome, the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation in Turin, the Querini Stampalia and Bevilacqua la Masa Foundations in Venice, the Palazzo Ducale in Mantua, and the Villa Croce Museum of Contemporary Art in Genua. In the USA his work has been shown at ArtPace in San Antonio, Texas and at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachussetts.
He has participated widely in group shows in Italy (the first in 1985 at the former Brown Boveri factory) and abroad including in the Biennial exhibitions held in Venice, Istanbul and Gwanjiu.
