Sun and Moon Captured at Celle
1982 - painted wood and iron

In the villa's top floor, visitors must pass by this work from a narrow hallway. The room is entirely filled with a the giant mousetrap wedged between three walls. Visible through the grid of the trap's iron bars, the moon and the sun have been taken prisoner. Lying on the floor, the sun's rays seep under the bars, almost as if liquefied by boredom. The moon, presented as a crescent and resembling a curved scythe blade, climbs onto the sun in an attempt to escape from the top of the trap.
