An Artwork for Celle
Claudio Parmiggiani
2001 - cast iron, stainless steel

Inside a small room on the second floor of the fattoria, the artist installed a work which places a heart, literally, at the center of the installation. Cast in iron, the organ is life-size and is held up in the center of the room by the points of four shiny stainless steel lances that seem to emerge from the side walls, ceiling and floor. This room is the only one in the corridor where the artist has asked to remove the shutters so that his work can be in dialogue with the outside space. Thus, the heart is perfectly framed by the window, and is set against the background of the Tuscan landscape.
