The sum of everything
Vittorio Corsini
2022 -

The artwork originates as an homage to the collection at
Celle on the propitious occasion of the 40th anniversary of
the park's opening to the public. The artist's idea was to make
a tribute to these conditions and this beautiful place where
thoughts and nature become a unified whole.
For Vittorio Corsini, Celle is the place where the sculptures
are revealed while walking. The walk is part of the experi-
ence. One doesn't encounter artworks but undergoes the pro-
cess whereby nature, thought, and artifice are strictly inter-
connected and bound into a single larger reality; the effect is
like that of the person who comes across flowers in nature.
The sum of everything is a crate of the kind used for fruit and
vegetables like oranges or artichokes; it's a crate that some-
how holds together things with similar aspects. In this case,
the similar aspects are the artists: those who transform, the
only ones who can give life to something that hasn't yet ex-
isted. They do this so that their vision and sensitivity can ac-
quire consistency in the midst of nature. "A Celle, a sculpture
is like an oak tree. It has the same intensity except that each
proposes different questions; the sculpture is an artifice."
The crate holds together and gathers a series of crystal
"'stones" from a possible river bed. Every stone has been
etched various times, almost as if it were a lace cut-out or
something particularly precious, with the name of an artist
who has worked at Celle. In the middle a blue stone (Giulia-
no) appears as the central catalyst.
Thus the crate, which has been carried all around the Celle
park to be filled with gifts, is now tipped up and spilled across
the floor, leaving a shining wake. Corsini's wish is that these
stones be luminescent, and he achieves this through his use of
crystal because, by capturing the light, it glows as if it were
a starry vision.
