Magdalena Abakanowicz  (Falenty, June 20, 1930 -- Warsaw, April 20, 2017)

Since 1989 Abakanowicz's work has been represented by the Marlborough Gallery which has devoted innumerable solo shows to her work in the gallery's various international venues.

Among her most important permanent installations we recall the ones at the Rose Sculpture Garden, Jerusalem (1987); Seoul Olympic Park, Seoul (1988); Raymond Nasher Collection, Dallas (1991); Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art (1992-93); Western Washington University, Bellingham (1994); Europos Parkas, Lithuania (1998); Jardin des Tuileries, Paris (2000); Women's Club of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (2001); Cytadela Park, Poznan (2001-2002); Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, New Jersey (2003); Big Figures, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ (2004); Agora, Grant Park, Chicago (2006).

Winner of many awards, in 2005 she received Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Polish Ministry of Culture in Warsaw and the International Sculpture Center in New York.
