Giulio Paolini

Giulio Paolini was born in Genua in 1940. He lives and works in Turin.
Apart from appearing in the many group shows featuring Arte Povera, a movement in which Paolini has been a valid exponent, the artist has held a number of one-man shows among which: Neue Galerie im Landesmuseum Joanneum, Graz (1998); Galleria civica di arte moderna e contemporanea, Turin (1999); Musée d'art modern et contemporain, Geneva (1999);  Galleria d'arte moderna e contemporanea Palazzo Forti, Verona (2001); Fondazione Prada, Milan (2003), Museo d'arte moderna e contemporanea, Rovereto (2004). His most recent shows include Galleria Alfonso Artiaco, Naples (2007-8, 2009); Aviary of the Villa Borghese, Rome (2008); MACRO Museo d'arte contemporanea, Rome (2013-2014);Galleria di arte moderna, Turin (2015)Museo Cappella Sansevero, Naples (2015);Museo Poldi Pezzoli, Milan (2016);Castello di Rivoli, Turin (2020-2021)Museo Novecento, Firenze (2022) .

His works are found in the permanent collections of: Museum voor hendenaagse Kunst Antwerpen, Antwerp;Galleria civica di arte moderna e contemporanea, Turin; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven; MART- Museo d'arte moderna e contemporanea, Rovereto; Centro per l'arte contemporanea L. Pecci, Prato.
In 2008 the Giulio & Anna Paolini Foundation, together with the Castello di Rivoli,  published the first volume of the artist's catalogue raisonée.
